斯特林大學 (University of Stirling) 成立於 1967 年，是「平板玻璃大學」(plate glass university，指 1960 年代後成立的大學)之一。大學校區位於蘇格蘭市郊，並坐落於一座十八世紀Airthrey城堡的莊園內，提供來自不同背景有著不同興趣的學生優秀的學習環境。因身處廣闊蓊鬱的林木之間，下有清幽靜謐的湖泊，也是英國少數擁有真正校園的大學之一。
教學水平一直得到高度評價，許多學科都得到優秀教學評級證明。 此外，斯特靈大學的專家研究中心有: 癌症護理研究中心、蘇格蘭經濟研究網路、水產養殖研究所、歐洲關係研究中心、環境史和政策中心等。
